Impressive. So what will they make for the average family?

Look at the prices of a Tesla Model S.

Used, they're at $65K and up.

      Lucid's cheapest least-expensive model is $77K.

The other more modest Tesla models start around 40, which is not awful as card go.

I read that the average price of a new car is now $45K or so, so the Tesla is right in there. But, the Lucid is competing with the Model S.

Your point stands, "What about the ordinary folk?" of course.

When I was out in LA this summer, Lucid had a showroom and I was able to sit in one of their cars. Pretty cool and the battery miles per charge are pretty impressive. The first of the high end models were just delivered to customers I read.

(one note with kind of bothered me, but maybe because business cards are much more used in Asia. But I was talking to the head man in the showroom and asked him for his business card, and he did not have one. I "get" it, but I dont "get" it. )

(Also went to visit the Polestar showroom. Actually liked the look and interior of that car more than the Lucid, but the battery miles per charge were not as good)

I saw the prototype in Las Vegas (before COVID). I found it more weird than impressive. The scale like pieces just seem extraneous.

I cannot imagine the clear door panels offer much side impact safety.

It’s rather fascinating that EV sales have gone from 0 to 10% of the total in just a few years.

                          1. In certain circumstances, they can certainly do the job.

That's nice, but how many chargers are there that can deliver that kind of power (and are compatible with whatever system they are using)?

Yes. My friend bought a Tesla because he wants to support the move to electric cars. It works, but is clearly different.
