“Tbh, (to be honest) the only way a Dem gerrymander of Upstate NY would work would be for #NY14 AOC, #NY16 Bowman and #NY17 Jones to absorb heavily GOP parts of Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam and Dutchess counties (while still keeping overwhelmingly safe Dem seats). We’ll see,” tweeted Wasserman.
I found this while searching for an article I read the other day that suggested top Democrat brass want AOC to go away and we’re suggesting that they could potentially redistricting in a manner that left her exposed to more serious challengers in a more moderate district.

Well at least I’d get the satisfaction of voting against her.
But then again I’m already in NY 17 (Jones), one of the three districts they discuss expanding so who knows how it would work in my little corner of the county

From what I’ve read, things generally didn’t go well for Democrats in the local NY elections in general. Weren’t there a number of bad defeats in Long Island?

Honestly I didn’t pay much attention outside the city. The other elections were small potatoes. GOP picked up a few city council seats, but they have a very small total number. I want to say <10 out of 51 seats.
