One of my wife's former coworkers came home a couple of days ago and saw something chilling. Her son, rope around his neck, hanging from a tree in the front yard.

    Suicide.

    Funeral is tomorrow.

      Wow.

      I can't imagine.

I had a boss do just that many years ago. He was working in Buenos Aires, 40 years old. Flew to Aspen, called his mom from the airport and surprised her. She picked him up and brought him to her house, then a little bit later she left to go buy groceries to make a nice dinner. When she came back, he was hanging from her rafters. His last act had been to format his hard drive.

      Only non-witches get due process.

        That's more than chilling. That's devastating 😢 💔.

Kid was 16. No note, no nothing.

Rough age. Everything feels like either the end of the world or greatest thing in the world. Add in depression or other mental health issue and yeah. Tough age. I couldn’t imagine being that parent.

How do you go back to your home? You know what your mind will see, every time you look at that tree.

Two of us spent time with a young couple the week before they were getting married. She was beautiful and a talented artist. He was an investment banker. We enjoyed their company on a garden walk hosted on Chicago's gold coast.

The plan was for them to head up to Minnesota on Friday. They were to get married Saturday afternoon. Thursday morning, he tried reaching her at the townhouse they shared. He couldn't get a hold of her - and got worried so he left work early.

Got home, opened the door and found her hanging from the balcony.

Friends emptied the house for him as it was too much for him to revisit their home. He moved out of state.

Speaking to him a long while later, he said apparently she had been hospitalized for depression in the past - but had never told him. Her well-intentioned family had told her to not tell anyone - but she interpreted that as meaning to keep things inside her.

Any idea what crime he was about to be convicted for?

Wow! So sad. Depression is such a sad disease. It can really affect people in ways that I cannot understand.

There was a speaker I watched about suicide. And his point was that people dont want to die, they just want to change the way they are living. So, it becomes a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
