Yeah, it is interesting. Boing put its money in a less passenger jet that would go point to point. Airbus put its money in a mega passenger jet that would go hub to hub. Oops. Turned out they were quite wrong.
Thai Airlines had/has a few of the A380 and I have had the chance to fly on them a few times. Because you enter and exit the plane either on an upper level or lower level, it really doesn't seem like a two level plane. There is not a lot of "mixing" between the floors. Seems just like a regular one level plane.
