But you can check it out of the school library...

@Jolly, there is a difference between "push" and "pull".

"Pushing" content to a common medium receivable by all is different from allowing individuals to "pull" specific content from a common collection of media.

When one "pulls" specific content from a library, it's an individual specifically accessing a specific content, one that the individual knows what to expect and made a conscious decision to access anyway.

"Pushing" a certain content to the common airwave is different in that an unsuspecting channel surfer can stumble onto said content (that is presumably offensive by certain standard) without one actively looking for it.

Hence the different standards governing what can be "pushed" onto the public airwave vs what can be made available to be "pulled" by individuals on demand.

That said, personally I think the USA as a whole is too puritanical with its TV censorship rules. It coddles the citizenry too much.

Son, pornography is pornography. If a picture is too bad to be shown on tv, it's too bad to be on the shelves of a school library.

Pictures of one guy sucking another's dick is not appropriate material for school.

That just means you do not understand the First Amendment and/or do not understand education.

I understand the First Amendment quite well, as did the Founders. Those guys also were pretty good at differentiating rights between children and adults.
