Desperate to hire? Maybe not.

My bet is that it wouldn’t take much to see that you’re not really interested in the job… I see about 15 a month and our operations manager sees around 200.

From LinkedIn, circa a few seconds ago:

That's not a fucking job.

nope. Seen them. That's come work for nothing and if it works out we might trickle down a little bit to you, but not much.
I guess the unemployed masses are just being lazy. I mean, look, they're offering a whole dinner maybe sometime!

And that’s representative of most jobs out there? I don’t think so… We’re offering $25 per hour for warehouse help. Overtime at time and a half (opportunity for about 10 hours per week), paid vacation, health insurance, retirement plan, dental, and vision. It could easily be $70K-$75K per year and we can’t find a serious applicant.

Based on the shit I've seen out there, a whole lot of companies thought they'd be able to strong-arm applicants coming off unemployment assistance by setting some ridiculous terms, and they're incredulous that no one's taking them up on it.

There's a pretty large disconnect between folks trying to hire and folks looking for jobs. It would be a mistake to presume it's all "nobody wants to work." Lots of contributing factors on both sides.

It’s a ground level opportunity in a startup. Very typical in Silicon Valley. You get underpaid with equity upside.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the model. What I'm saying is, the "company" who wrote that particular ad won't last the quarter.
