I wonder how long that worm stayed alive after being consumed whole.

@jon-nyc I liked how it kind of bobbed its head to find it. I guess it was using "smell" or the equivalent because I dont think it has eyes.

Yeah. It’s remarkable that he caught it.

Also that worm was faster than I expected. It looks pretty much like the earthworms I would dig up as a kid to catch fish in the local pond.

Note to self: don’t get within 3 feet of a snapping turtle

We had the occasional snapping turtle at the Cheddarshack. They're scary fast.

They live in the golf course ponds here. They will come out and walk around sometimes, just to let you know they are here.

When they are active, I stay away from the ponds.

Our duck nest is now empty. I think the mother destroyed the eggs before leaving it. I saw small pieces of shell but no larger pieces, and certainly no babies. I guess the eggs were not fertilized. She waited as long as she knew she needed to. They would have hatched by now.

                              Education is extremely important.

@Horace Interesting that they instinct know whether the eggs will be good or not.

She didn't know, beyond waiting enough time for them to hatch, which is a month. But she sat on them for a month. She only knew after they didn't hatch.
