I might be more privileged and particular about the idea streams I associate with than typical conservatives. That could account for it.

They seem to typically be less formally educated folks who think that everybody else is too stupid to see the obvious, and see a lot of conspiracies in a lot of places - anti-vaxxer / homeopathic cancer remedy types, basically. One is a "professional" musician - i.e. she can't afford to do her laundry and passes it of by dressing like something that escaped from Woodstock.

Same here. I've seen it from a couple of cops, an Army contractor (they're not always the smartest folks but oh boy don't you tell them that), folks like that.
