Last year marked the 40th anniversary of the release of Airplane!, the comedy I wrote and directed with my brother Jerry and our friend Jim Abrahams. Just before the world shut down, Paramount held a screening at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, followed by a Q&A in which an audience member asked a question we never used to receive: “Could you make Airplane! today?” My response: “Of course, we could. Just without the jokes.”

When you now have to rely on the conservatives to write the jokes, you know you done screwed up as a society.

Yes, the humourless left have clearly taken over from the joyless bastards like Mary Whitehouse who tried to ban The Life of Brian in the 1970's. Sadly, due to social media there are a lot more of them, so they get the job done.
The internet was supposed to give us access to everything. Now they're trying to take it away.

I watched Airplane with the boy last year. I was half expecting them to have removed the jive talk scene but they hadn’t.

If somebody made a comedy movie today, skewering every woke trope, is there a box office for it?
Dave Chappelle seems to be making some money, still. He does, of course, have the requisite skin color to be allowed to have individual thoughts.

I'm a little surprised Jimmy Carr hasn't been cancelled. He's quite often more offensive than Chappelle.

He's got a sophisticated voice.
