Was this by one-on-one killings, or bombing, etc?

1979: Airey Neave, The Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland; killed in a car bombing outside the Palace of Westminster.

1981: Rev. Robert Bradford Shot at a constituents' surgery in Finaghy, Belfast.

1984: Sir Anthony Berry, Killed in the bombing of the Grand Brighton Hotel during the Conservative Party Conference.

1990: Ian Gow, Killed by a car bomb near his home in East Sussex.

2016: Jo Cox, Shot and stabbed before a constituents' surgery in Birstall, West Yorkshire.

2021: Sir David Amess, stabbed multiple times outside a constituency surgery meeting in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex.

@doctor-phibes not to make light of any of this, but I must admit that I have never heard the use of the word surgery as a political meeting.

You British are funny with our language.

I swear, reading your list, I thought what a weird coincidence that more than one MP was killed at a doctors office. Then I realized I must be missing something

I got paywalled out of NYT before I could copy the bit, but I gather 'surgeries' in British politics is the one-on-one meeting between the Member and a constituent. Phibes, please correct me if I'm wrong.

The bit also mentioned that Sir David mentioned in a book he wrote that surgeries needed to be done away with as dangerous for the Members.

The 25-year-old is being held under the Terrorism Act and officers have until Friday to question him.
The BBC understands Mr Ali was referred to the counter-terrorist Prevent scheme some years ago, but was never a formal subject of interest to MI5.
Whitehall officials told the BBC that the man being held was Ali Harbi Ali, a British man of Somali heritage.
Police said a man, who was held on suspicion of the MP's murder in Essex on Friday, was now being held at London police station after being rearrested under the Terrorism Act.

We may never know the motive...

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.
