It's not binary. They both suck.

100 people rampage in downtown Oregon and yet no police presence to make arrests? That doesn't pass the sniff test.

Portland. It's possible.

It may not be I/O, but it's pretty damn close. With the exception of 1/6, which didn't cause much more damage than last night's soiree, the Red Hats have not been violent and they have not demolished private property.
A dime and a stack of hundred dollar bills are both money, but I wouldn't equate them.

With the exception of 1/6,
My $0.02:
- The problem with 1/6 is not that it was actually no big deal. It was a huge deal. It's that participants are labeled as, I dunno, some form of National Socialists by the public, and that's neither accurate nor helpful. But the event was nonetheless outrageous.
- More serious: there was a big gaping hole in the city of Portland last year, and not only was the public more or less fine with that, but the city government was. That's a massive problem. It was Evergreen in city form and it's got to stop now before more people die.
