I called the desk receiving nurse and asked what the situation was."
"To make long story short, it took a while because all of the – not all – the vast majority of the emergency rooms and docs were occupied taking care of COVID patients," Biden added. "I bet every one of you can name somebody who got sent to the hospital with something other than COVID and couldn't get it taken care of."
Biden said that he "wasn’t complaining" when he made the phone call because doctors and nurses working in overcrowded hospitals are "getting the living hell kicked out of them, sometimes physically."
Of course he didn't interfere or ask that his friend's SO be moved up in the line.

Honestly, if I was busy in the ED and someone told me I have a call from POTUS, I would laugh my ass off.
But Mik is right about HIPAA.

Never been around when POTUS called. Never happened at our place. Heard about the governor calling, though.
Since his name was on our paychecks, administration would have turned the place upside down and shook it like a terrier with rat, if he had asked for it.

Of course not.
But, frame it in this context: President hears that his friend;s SO is having trouble getting care because of all the COVID cases clogging up the ER. President calls and says, "Hey, what's goin' on there? My friend's SO is there and things are taking a long time." Do you think some skids would get greased?
Of course they would.
