I only offered up one State because it's where I live. We have the 3rd highest GDP per capita in the country, and I'd say thay most people agree it's a pretty nice place to live.
I'm really not interested in having a pissing match. We all know there are some red states which have some pretty dire problems.

Just Google 'highest crime rate by state', 'GDP per capita by state', 'Poverty rate by state'.
As I already said, I don't think the reasons are mainly political, or at least not down to party politics.
