Recently I woke up and discovered that my computer had acquired something called ReCAPTCHA. I sort of gather this is some doohicky that is more for commercial use.

Does anyone here have this ReCAPTCHA? Do I need it? Will dire things happen if I delete it?

    Thanks.

ReCaptcha was originally those crazy text boxes you had to key in or those 'check all the pictures with traffic light' things. It has apparently been upgraded to do things with less human intervention. I'd keep it if I were you.

From what I know, reCAPTCHA is a system that is used on web servers. Unless you have a web server, I don't see any need for it on your system.

It is very strange, though, that you "acquired" it somehow. Usually, this software must be installed properly. It's not spyware or something, so it's unlikely that you installed it unknowingly.

If anybody could do that, it would be me!

          Thank you both. 🙂
