No baking listed in the hobbies?

Very sorry to hear about the three froggos, Brenda. My first thought is being glad it wasn't contagious.

Back in 1982 (?) we had an iguana. His name was Jack. He had the run of the house and was tame as could be. I'm convinced that he came to us for affection, scratches, etc. He grew to about 2 ½ feet in size.

He developed a bowel obstruction, perhaps from a turkey bone he found in the sink.

Mrs. George and I were heartbroken when he died.

RIP, froggos, and take some comfort (while Teh Bee talks to you on the other side) that you Momma gave you the best possible life. Enjoy your time on the better side of the rainbow bridge.

By the way, @brenda , was Jurgi one of the ones that didn't make it?

Did you not once post a photo of you lying down and Jack lying on your head? Or am I making that up?

Awww, Brenda, I am so sorry about the little ones. Still, likely a better life than they would have had out among the slathering jaws of nature.

              RIP Froggos.

I don't know that guy any more. And he looks a lot friendlier than I am my current one.

                  Edit to add:

Just last week, I was talking to Mrs. George. In almost 46 years of being together, we've NEVER not had animals in our home.

                          @Catseye3 he's good.

Gonna be 25 years old this June. He has become my bird. He's very aggressive towards Mrs. George, but lets me do anything I want with him (baths, etc), despite the fact that Mrs. George is the one who feeds him.

He spends about an hour a day sitting on my lap/shoulder/desk/hand, etc.

                            I should add.

Animals and pets make your life so much fuller. Not all of them are loving (the fish) and not all of them are lovable (yeah, May, I never liked you, but I wept when we euthanized you). But all of them make you a better person because you care for them. Doesn't matter, reptiles, amphibians, rodents, horses, cats and dogs. You're a better human because you make their lives better.

Baking is an enjoyable task, but not what I think of as a hobby.

Speaking of baking, I wore out my double ovens. Really.

While cleaning the top oven. I noticed an unusual spot on the lower back wall. It was a hole! I touched the metal near it, and my finger went completely through it. Then I saw a rusted hole in the lower right corner of the oven floor. It was all rusted through, too.

There's no repair for metal that weak in an oven that gets used at temperatures up to 500°. The bottom oven was better, but overall, the unit had so many problems it just needed to be replaced.

We can't complain. It lasted over 25 years, and it got a real workout every week. We're waiting for the trim pieces to finish the installation of the new ovens, and the old set is in the back of my truck, waiting to be taken to the waste recovery place.

Tryker had an oddly bent leg, much like Biker. Biker's name was due to her leg looking like a kickstand for a bicycle. So Biker's sib became Tryker.

Turns out Tryker was also a female, so they were sisters. Biker also died a year or more ago from the same type of bloating problem. Makes sense now from the necropsy report.

Baking is an enjoyable task, but not what I think of as a hobby.

I feel the same way about cooking. I can read and follow a recipe, but I have not a whit of creativity. I'm a lot better at it than Mrs. George (and she agrees) because I can follow instructions and time things appropriately (she can't do that). The joy of experimentation is easily outweighed by the reliability of doing something you've done before - and you fall into a rut.

If I could get the enjoyment of meals that I make from another source, at a reasonable or equivalent cost (and something the management would eat), I'd do it in a heartbeat.

In the meantime, I'll be happy to listen to an audiobook while I make dinner, 4-5 nights a week.

                                        The other 2-3?

                                        That's pizza, burgers, Chinese, etc.

@brenda you did a necropsy on a frog?

                                          Good for you.

We did one on Jack (the iguana).

We also knew that he had a bowel obstruction, so ... surgery.
