I saw a comment (I can't remember where) that said that Homo Sapiens is basically a tropical species. It was the harnessing of fire, and the development of clothing that changed that.

As a young lad, most of the homes in the community were wood siding and almost always white. Ten foot ceilings, built on brick piers, without a lot of insulation. Always, with shade trees.

Cold as a witch's tit in January, but when you only have a few weeks of real winter and months of hot, humid summer, they worked.
