Epix has a TV series based on the early Roman Empire called "Domina"

For lovers of Roman history, this is a ton of fun.

Only 8 episodes in the first season (and I've not watched them all), and the first two episodes are somewhat iffy. It's the story of Augustus' wife, Livia Drusilla. But, once it hits it's stride it's worth a watch.

All of the characters, other than slaves, are historical figures. Of course, some liberties are taken, like the poisoning of one of the characters. There's no evidence he was poisoned, but he did die at the location and time the series depicts.

If you have a subscription, it's worth a watch.

Think of it as "Game of Thrones," without the weirdness. This is actual history, and as rich as it can be. I'm looking forward to a second season, should it come.

I loved the HBO series, "Rome" and was disappointed when it was cancelled for budgetary reasons. Hopefully "Domina" will survive.

I really enjoyed it. It's a bit of a soap-opera version of the live of Livia, wife of Augustus.

Historically accurate, for the most part, with some dramatic license taken.

Having finished it, I though it's time to refresh my memories of the early Roman emperors, so I started watching this on Amazon Prime the other day:

I, Caesar: The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire

      Six Episodes:

      1. Julius Ceasar: I Am Not King but Caesar
      2. Augustus: First of the Emperors
      3. Nero: The Power and the Madness
      4. Hadrian: Within These Walls
      5. Constantine: Bearing the Cross
      6. Justinian: Last of the Romans

It's pretty good, for a series that tries to tell 500 years of history in 6 hours. It ignores Tiberius, Caligula and others. Nevertheless, not a bad overview.

Now that I'm into it, I'm going to dive into "I, Claudius" from 1976. It's considered one of the great TV series, and I never watched it.

        On the list. Thanks!

By the way, our all wireless TV is working out flawlessly.

Season 2 is my current binge.

All these names, in-laws, children etc are sooo confusing.

          Still fun.

And once again, it continues the standard established by "Spartacus," just enough nudity.
