    The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

      Aha gotcha can’t be a real quiz. Vinblastine is only given IV. Not in pill form.

      Chemo for all sorts of ugliness.

        Nasty, nasty drug, too. Is it still being used?

          @george-k absolutely

          First line treatment in Hodgkins is ABVD, where the V is vinblastine

          Also used frequently in testicular.

          Vinca alkaloid. I always think of that when I plant vinca flowers. The periwinkle plant. How such nastiness from a plant which makes beautiful flowers.

            @bachophile the funny (sad?) thing is how, after not having any experience with internal medicine, chemotherapy, etc I am SO out of the loop with newer therapies and drugs.

            Living in my cocoon of the OR shielded me from all the new stuff.

            Nevertheless, I still got to play with cool machines, new potent-as-hell drugs, and stick catheters into people's hearts.

              @george-k ok now you will feel old. Not much use of swan ganz catheters anymore.

              Plenty of ways to assess hemodynamics with less invasive means.

                Yeah, they were going out of fashion when I retired. Some of our CV surgeons wanted to use them for measuring SvO2, others just used a CVP (via IJ).

                Echos were just coming into popular use as I retired. Never acquired the skill to interpret them.

                    Indeed. I was pretty good with femoral nerve blocks. When ultrasound became available, I had no clue what I was looking at. Some of my partners were good with them.

                    Interscalene? Fuggedabboutit!
