Brennan, Rice, Power, Lew, and others asked for the unmasking of Flynn.

Oh, and so did Biden and Obama's chief of staff:

          Of course! She forgot.

Because if you tell Congress you "forgot" it's not lying to Congress.

What's the significance of asking for unmasking of individuals in an investigation, for us NSA laymen?

This may be a dumb question - but wouldn't you have to ask for a general unmasking request - because you only presumably learn the identities of individuals after an unmasking?

Is this an uncommon requests for high level investigations? Why did the unmasking requests come after the election (Nov. 8 - Dec X)? Is that significant or arbitrary?

Unmasking is done usually when a senior individual wants to know the real name of somebody written about in a briefing note or report. The last year of the Obama Administration saw a 300% increase in unmasking requests.

Cue Jon or Ax to now swoop in with the admonition that the Trump Administration unmasked more people than Obama. That is true. But also consider what has gone on concerning the persecution of the Trump Administration over Russia! Russia! Russia!

Another thing...Why would Obama's Treasury Secretary need Flynn unmasked? What could possibly be germaine to Treasury?
