Kids Have It Easier Than Adults?
-
When I was a child, some adults in my life back then would occasionally tell me that being a kid is easier than being an adult.
However, I think it's different for everyone.
Although I had an okay childhood, looking back, I don't think my life when I was small child was any easier or simpler than it has been in my adult life (I'm 41 years old now).
For me, being a little kid wasn't always so easy. I was dealing with mental health issues back then. Their was always some teacher in school giving me a hard time about grades and behavior (and the teachers had good reason, but I didn't see it that way back then). Also, their was often some other student on the school yard that wanted to pick on me and beat me up.
So the idea that childhood is better and easier than adulthood I think is true for some, but not everyone.

I think the day to day problems we let roll off our backs are much more difficult for kids. Their world is smaller, their coping skills and sense of self far less. The problems seem much larger then, and we have no sense that problems come and go pretty rapidly.

MainerMike, you come across as such a nice guy, I would have stood up to the bullies for you if we were kids together.
With some exceptions, I had a great childhood. Like many, I did some really stupid and dangerous things, lucky to have lived through the really boneheaded stuff. Lucky I wasn't caught.
I'd say being a kid, compared to being an adult, was easier. I didn't have to worry about food, clothing, place to live, etc.
Curious what others may think in looking back.
