    The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

      In fairness to the Trudeau government it can only handle one file at a time. This Afghanistan mess comes at time when the government's election file is open and Afghanistan comes as a real inconvenience and distraction to its present focus on getting reelected with a majority. Perhaps now that a decision to walk away from the Afghan fire once and for all has been made the inconvenience of it all will just fade away. Besides, what were those Canadians and our Afghan allies doing hanging about the place when they knew very well a Taliban sh1tstorm was brewing?

        I've wondered the same thing about Americans. They know things are going to get bad, really bad, and they don't seek to get out?

          I don't know. But I agree with those who are saying that our government has become obsessed with procedures and ticking off boxes rather than actual outcomes as a measurement of success. I think the following critique is pretty accurate:
