Sioux Tribes vs. South Dakota Governor on COVID-19
-
"Two tribes — the Oglala Sioux Tribe and the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe — set up the checkpoints last month in an attempt to lock down their reservations amid fears infections could decimate members."
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem said she would take legal action if the tribes didn't remove the checkpoints in 48 hours.
The Governor's spokesperson said the checkpoints are illegal.
The Tribes essentially say they are following science and facts, and are exercising their rights as a sovereign nation to keep out threats to their health.

@Larry Longmire was a TV series based on a series of novels. Premise is that Walt Longmire is the sheriff of a county that borders on an Indian reservation. He has to observe the border between his county and the reservation. If he wants the cooperation of the tribe for anything that might have occurred on the rez, he needs the support of tribal police and elders.
Great series (and it had Katee Sackhoff in it, which, in and of itself makes it worth watching - google her if you don't believe me).
