I've got a $500-ish hybrid, and a $2000-ish road bike - both are fairly low level compared to what I could have spent. If I'm cycling to the shops or with my kids, I take the hybrid, but I've also done rides of about 25-miles on it. If I'm going out on a ride to improve my fitness, I take the roadbike. For any decent distance, I hurt a lot less afterwards with the roadbike, but it does need a lot of other stuff - pedals, shoes, stupid clothes and what-have-you.

Just ask yourself, am I an occasionally singing the odd Christmas carol kind of a person, or do I want to join a cult?

      I was only joking

Have fun, but whatever you do, do NOT follow Phibes' example. Beer and bikes are a no no.

Actually, in our area there are a series of bars and craft breweries along the bike trails. You could bike a mile and stop at Old Ox, bike another mile and stop at Faceplant. bike another mile and stop at Craft of Brewing, and so on. I’ve actually thought of taking up the trail…

Bike beercrawl. You do indeed live in an ideal location.

I'll bring my eBike and we could even pick up a couple of six packs!

              Please love yourself.

I’m trying to talk Luke into just taking a bike to CNU and skip the car thing… Everywhere he needs to be is within 2 miles and the weather is mild…

Do you have a car for him to take? Now is a bad time to pick one up.
