A good friend is bringing a well-aged bottle of Sauternes tonight so I have planned the menu around that.
Pan seared fois gras with sourdough toasts - Sauternes
Grilled lamb loin chops with Gratin Dauphinois and a salad with artichoke hearts, hearts of palm, olives and tomatoes - Bordeaux
Dessert of two kinds of fresh cherries and cheeses - Sauternes again
Should be spectacular if not particularly healthy.
