I saw Oscar Peterson and Niels Henning Orsted Pederson play in Manchester in 1980 or '81. We got in a little early, and they were doing a sound check that we sneaked in to watch. I have never seen anything like it, before or since - it was pretty much what he is describing here. The concert was actually a bit of an anti-climax.

I actually think he's going overboard. Peterson was an astonishing technician, but he isn't normally mentioned when people are talking about the absolute top jazz greats.
