    The Heinz Hot Dog Pact

Hot dog wieners come in packs of 10. Hot dog buns come in packs of 8. WHY?! As the condiment that has been bringing foods together for over 150 years, we’ve decided enough is enough. That’s why we started the Heinz Hot Dog Pact. We’re calling on Big Bun and Big Wiener companies to find the answer to this hot dog packaging mismatch, once and for all. We need your signatures more than ever. Let’s change hot dog history together.

Well the wieners last forever but the buns don’t.

Sounds like socialism has lifted its ugly head in the TNCR.

Nathan's is eight to a pack. Problem solved.

@jolly I was thinking of them in particular.

                I had no idea.

Been so long since we did Nathan's.

If they are serious, they will also need to standardize the length, girth, and curvature of the hot dog to ensure proper fit in the bun, maybe also add margin for allowable condiment envelop. If Heinz is behind this, they might over-spec. the condiment envelop thus leading to wastage, so beware.

OK, as long as we're talking bun design and spec, does anyone have a preference for top-split vs side-split buns?

A proper hot dog in a side-split bun, when eaten, becomes a top-split because you have to rotate it 90 degrees, amirite?

I’d been fine with any bun that opens reliably without tearing. Maybe the 10 is to account for 20% failure.
