I used to know the difference between a xylophone and a glockenspiel.

        But now I can't marimba...

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

A friend of mine did reviews of the Chopin etudes and Beethoven Moonlight Sonata for Gramophone. Nice way to choose some favorite recordings to listen to.

Kind of a sad/gruesome background to this album by Allison Moorer. It talks about the tragedy when she was a teenager of when her father killed her mother and then committed suicide. But it is still very good.

            Lyrics
            [Verse 1]
The night was hot and steamy and crickets played their tune
Everyone was sleeping under an August moon
Except one man that sat awake, slowly going mad
Regretting that he'd thrown away the only love he had

            [Verse 2]
A slave to the bottle, he'd driven his family to leave
A wife and two daughters he treated so terribly
Drunk with grief and loneliness, he wasn't thinking straight
He knew he couldn't live unless they pardoned his mistakes

            [Verse 3]
He went into the city to try to make amends
Asked his love for pity but she would not give in
Overwhelmed with sadness, he reached for his gun
And took her life along with his before the morning sun

            [Outro]
Now they are lying in the cold, cold earth
Such a sad, sad story; such a sad, sad world

                                [Verse 1]
No matter how I try, I end up on the ground
Another orphan waitin' in the lost-and-found
Over and over, I take it on the chin
Fists up to the world, fighting a fight I cannot win

                                [Chorus]
Help me lay my weapons down
Help me give the love I feel
Help me hold myself with kindness
                                And help me heal
                                Remove all of the false
                                Show me what is real
                                Oh Lord, help me heal

                                [Verse 2]
Yeah, I'm tough but I wasn't born this way
I grew hard because I had to, carrying the weight
I wanna let it go, I wanna set it free
But everywhere I turn the fight follows me

                                [Chorus]
Help me lay my weapons down
Help me give the love I feel
Help me hold myself with kindness
                                And help me heal
                                Remove all of the false
                                Show me what is real
                                Oh Lord, help me heal

                                [Chorus]
Help me lay my weapons down

Jess Williamson - Chasing Spirits - from Album "Time is Accidental". Good album but it is the type of style I like. LOL

                                        [Verse 1]
Are my love songs lies now that the love is gone?
                                        There's the one about forever
And loving you in a past life or whatever
                                        The difference between us
Is when I sing it, I really mean it
                                        But I guess I wasn't listening
'Cause you always had the same questions

                                        [Chorus 1]
                                        You've been chasing spirits
                                        And staying up all night
You said if you don't rein it in
You're shaving ten years off your life

                                        [Verse 2]
I tried to come to you, but you didn't like the way I asked
But there's nothing in L.A. for mе
Just a lonely singer at the bеach
I could start a garden with the landlord
                                        Something good and simple
And worth staying in town for
I was pulling cards while you jumped the cattle guard
                                        They say lovin's hard

                                        [Chorus 2]
                                        You've been chasing spirits
And I'm still chasing them lights
Now, who is a bigger mystic?
And who's winning a bar fight?

"MAN OF THE PEOPLE is about the person who stands behind the disgraced politician, the religious leader that’s been caught in a sex scandal. The wife, the girlfriend, the husband, the partner, whoever is the family, the children—the people that stand behind these figures that are disgraceful. The collateral damage. I pity these people sometimes." - SW

                                          Lyrics:
Trust, you know how to take it
Love, you know how to fake it

And I will be there beside you
The camera eye, the drug is just to be near you

Hey, well I can take rejection
Hey, what does it take to get your attention?
Cos you’re a man of the people
                                          A man of the people
And I’m just part of the plan

I lie here like a dog
And think of all I would undo
                                          Anyone would go
But I got nowhere to go to

And what is left of us?
                                          Now there’s only the cinders
                                          Ambition froze me out
                                          Like a demonic winter
