Sometimes you hear a song that takes you right back there - 1969.

Maybe it is because I haven't heard this for decades.

In honor of my Ireland trip.(Though the song does not mean me, but the style is fun and what is heard in the pubs.)

The below is not my video but similar to what I saw in the pubs. Lots of fun

Original 1959 pressing. A little crackling. Having it deep cleaned next week on a machine that costs $6,500 and some change. Should quiet it right down.

It's one of the jewels in my collection.

I searched Spotify and Amazon music for this collection of the earliest Brubeck recordings and came up empty.

Bought from Discogs in Near Mint condition. 3 LPs of music I have never heard and apparently cannot stream.

              Wonderful stuff.

Another cheap purchase from Discogs in mint condition from 1974. Again, unavailable in digital format or on streaming platforms.

                Recordings from 1946-1947.

Not to be a buzzkill, but based on the song titles and recording dates I'm pretty sure those are actually Charlie Parker Dial recordings with Miles as a sideman. You can stream them under Parker's name.

Interesting. You are most likely correct but I wonder what this album is all about? It has this text on the back cover.

Not sure - it's a bit weird attributing them to Miles. Also, I'm pretty sure the master tapes still exist, so there was really no need to take the sound from a 78. It's still kind of fun seeing these albums from the 70's.

Presumably they're the same recordings I'm thinking of - here's an example (with the greatest alto-sax break in history)

                        Adams_Must_the_Devil_Have_All_the_Good_Tunes?.jpg

"The composer John Adams has long shown a flair for catchy titles. “Must the Devil Have All the Good Tunes?,” a piano concerto commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, takes its name from a saying attributed to Martin Luther—alluding, perhaps, to the seductions of secular art. A fun-house-mirror distortion of Henry Mancini’s “Peter Gunn” riff drives the burly, funky opening; a limpid central reverie prefaces a finale whose rhythms possess a demoniac swagger. In this recording, Yuja Wang, the soloist, performs with athleticism and grace; the orchestra, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, matches her with power and atmosphere aplenty. Wang’s splendid account of “China Gates,” a brief piano work from 1977, provides an agreeably dreamy coda."

I'm not a huge fan of Adams, but I'm enjoying this.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

I learned of this at a listening session of the audiophile group.

It is a wonderful piece of music and a great test for an audio system.

                              These LPs sound amazing!

45rpm Analog Productions Reissue 6 LP boxset.

A buddy found an original 33 1/3 3 LP boxset from 1965 in absolute mint condition in a collection that was given to him for free. That original boxset is worth over $400.

Finally got around to a 30 day free trial to stream CD and high resolution recirdings from Qobuz. Phenomenal selection of music titles especially for classical, jazz, folk and world music. 100 million titles in the data base.

Right now am listening to some absolutely delicious baroque guitar and theobro music.

Until recently Qobuz in Canada was only available to audio equipment dealers. Since I worked part time for a hi-fi dealer until 2020, I became familiar with it. Qobuz far surpassed available titles the other streaming service, Tidal, offered in the store.

The subscription is $1 more per month than buying an MP3 recording from iTunes. Go figure.

I now have my sound system back again.

                                          Elbows up!
