The USSR tried. The USA tried. You think China will do better?
I think if anybody can, they will.
Different mindset. I suspect the Chinese could hang the entire population of Afghanistan upside down on crosses, and never blink an eye.

I wondered the same.
The USSR had a lot of helping in failing due to China and the US supplying the resistance.
The US initially invaded just to root out terrorists and the scope creeped to nation building with democracy. China clearly is handing out money and infrastructure for which the debt will exceed the value provided but they could care less about the Taliban as long as their ideology doesn’t creep into China.
We have to ask ourselves is the Chinese way of growing influence superior to ours. You know the treatment of women, intersectional people, Tibetan and uyghur ethnic minorities, export of heroin throughout the world, rapid expansion throughout Southeast Asia, total internet control, massive spying on the public and quashed opposition and social media.
It’s pretty shocking how important certain issues are to our country and we give China as a massive pass. Buts it not just that, it’s our folding on economic issues. I’m not sure people have properly contemplated China as the world military and economic power. Our “reflection” of social justice is a joke in this context.

China is not going in militarily. Big difference.
Their strategy is debt trap diplomacy. But we need to worry more about Russia. Look at the news from 2016-2020, the massively more intellectual left couldn’t be bothered to prepare us for China’s bold moves around its 100 year celebration.
Yeah, Russia Russia Russia all the time, and pee showers and President being a Russian agent.
Now tell me again who is the greater threat to democracy geniuses?

Analyst on Fox News handicapping China's odds with in Afghanistan. The punchline seems to be that because China will be "more ruthless" than the USA, it will take China longer to fail in Afghanistan.
