or 19.6 years ago I purchased a Xerox DocuPrint N4025 large format "11x17" black and white laser printer.

    https://www.cnet.com/products/xerox-docuprint-n4025-printer-monochrome-laser-series/

It prints 40 11x17 pages per minute which is still pretty damn fast even by today's standards.

It recently started to produce dark, messy prints and I suspect it needs a new toner cartridge.

It has a monthly duty cycle of 23,000 pages.

I had a customer with the 35 page per minute version and it routinely printed close to 30,000 pages from one toner cartridge. They used it right up against its duty cycle.

I have printed only 15,000 pages over that 20 year period.

I have never changed the toner cartridge. It is reporting low toner.

Never sick a day in its life.

We are alike in that respect. It’s a tool. Use it until it no longer meets your needs. My HP Laserjet 4L lasted 15 years flawlessly working until I sold it.

I’d still use my Star NL10 if I could.

          Descending into geezer mode.

In 1986 (?) a colleague loaned me his Macintosh computer. It was, I think, the "fat Mac" - the all-in-one 9-inch black and white display Mac. It was very similar to the Mac that Steve Jobs introduced in 1984.

When he let me play with it for a weekend at my house, he told me that he was saving up for the Apple Laserwriter.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.
