Our friends across the pond say this is a real slap in the face to the Queen.

    https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/meghan-markle-daughter-name-rude-queen-elizabeth

"I don’t think it’s a good idea — I think it’s quite rude to Her Majesty Her Queen. It was a very private nickname from her husband, who hasn’t been dead for very long," Levin said on "Good Morning Britain."

"Prince Charles would never dream of calling his mother Lilibet."

The moniker Lilibet goes back to when the queen was too young to be able to pronounce her own name, calling herself "Lilibet" instead.

Her parents and grandparents soon took up the nickname, which the queen’s father, King George VI, was once quoted as using when he said, "Lilibet is my pride. Margaret is my joy."

"We knew what it was but it was his name — [the Duke of Edinburgh] wanted that name for her, it was a special name, I think it’s quite demeaning, I really believe that," Levin continued.

I agree with most of the sentiments expressed here, but this smacks of something you say against somebody you hate anyway. A bit of pecksniffian virtue signalling.

It reminds you of the bit by the comic expressing his dislike for a particular woman: "Look at her -- eating crackers like she owns the place."

If Meghan Markle gave birth to the second coming of Jesus, the British press would take it as clear evidence that she'd been sleeping around.

Maybe it is an insult. But who really knows?

And how does one become a 'Royal Expert' exactly?

        I was only joking

Watching Harry talk about mental health is just not something I think will ever get used to.

One can only hope that their request for donations is for link someone else.

In May in honor of Mother's Day, Harry and Markle asked for donations of baby supplies such as diapers and cleaning supplies.

"As a mom, and an expectant mom, I deeply appreciate the significance of community support, safe and accessible pregnancy resources, and trusted guidance in a nurturing setting," the duchess said in a statement at the time. "These ingredients are essential to not just our physical health, but our mental well-being, and I commend you for leading a compassionate community that lives these values."

I'm not defending them, I don't really have strong feelings one way or another, and try to avoid TV shows on British royalty that aren't associated with historical battles involving lots of dead Frenchmen.

But I freaking despise the British tabloid press.

Some day you will have to educate us on the British tabloid press. It surfaces often on news aggregator websites. I see scantily clad women as their main product which is not the thrust of clickbait in the US.

If all the British tabloids did was post pictures of scantily clad women it would be fine with me. They combine it with lurid sensationalism, jingoistic vulgarity, xenophobic ranting, reactionary moralising and an amoral lust for destroying reputation in pursuit of readership at any cost that induces a despair for humanity.

Other than that, I'm sure they're a wonderful bunch of chaps.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced on Sunday that they welcomed their second child together, daughter Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. Shortly after making the exciting announcement, the couple received a warm congratulations from Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family.

"The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex," a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said in a statement.

Prince William and Kate Middleton also shared a separate congratulatory message on their official Instagram account, writing, "We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili.Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie."

In their announcement, Meghan and Harry shared that their daughter was born on Friday -- and she was named in honor of both the Queen and Harry's late mother, Princess Diana.

                        I am overcome with joy!
