How good of a digital piano for $2k?
-
If you had $2k to spend on a digital piano, which one would you get?
Why?
A buddy of mine just put his 6'3 Estonia into long-term storage and is looking for a good action above all else.

I'd get a used Yamaha NU1X or NU1.
By far the best action in that price range, IMO. They use a full upright piano action. Feels quite different from the typical Clavinova.

Yeah, but you’re not going to get an NU1X in that price range in the US... Everybody say thank you, California, you no good bastard of a state...
Sound? I would look at Clavinovas. Touch? Roland. At least in the 2K range. Maybe an HP702 or Clp725?

$2k is a rough range for a digital. You can just squeeze into the lowest models of the really good series or you can get the best of the so-so...
If he can step up to $3k it’s a whole new world...
