@lufins-dad said in US COVID Stats:

46% drop in daily new cases over the last 30 days (currently 29K rolling 7-day average)

17% drop in deaths (currently 595 per day on a rolling 7 day average)

Why are these two so disparate?

My guess is deaths already experienced a dramatic drop off earlier than 30 days ago when older people were being vaccinated

That was about 10 weeks ago...

      @lufins-dad Makes sense.

You would expect cases and deaths to decline at a similar rate if the cohort being vaccinated was very similar to the modal death - old or with chronic conditions.

As you vaccinate (say) healthy-ish 40 year olds, you'd expect the cases to drop quite a bit faster than deaths.

It looks like the vaccine is working.

Let's hope the plandemic brigade come to their senses and get the shot too.

Exactly. If people need any better proof of the effectiveness of the vaccine..........

Many more breakthrough cases than being reported. I have direct knowledge of a superspreader event from a breakthrough case that infected several fully vaccinated people. I have to believe the media will start picking up on this soon, but I wonder if vaccinated people are just not being tested because these kind of cases are overwhelmingly asymptomatic.

Anyway unvaccinated people have more chances than they realize, unless they just don’t care.

Oh. So the vaccine isn’t preventing transmission?

I’m sure it is but not 90% unless the event I know is a freak of statistics. All are old and asymptomatic. Low viral loads. It’s just when they make contact with unvaccinated people that things go bad.

Viral loads are interesting. COVID does not necessarily behave like other viruses when it comes to viral loads. For instance, when looking at HIV, high viral loads upon presentation which increase over short period of time, is a good indicator of disease severity and symptoms.

COVID is a bit different. From what I've read, initial viral loads seem not to be as important as viral loads a week or so down the line. Those tend to be a better indicator of disease severity and possible mortality.

But it spread through a significant number of vaccinated people, without any or more than a few really getting sick?

                    That's good

One event should be representative of the millions of events that take place around the world.

I agree. It’s not something I read or just heard however. I would have dismissed just like you. I don’t expect anyone to take it seriously. But when you see the UFO with your own eyes it’s different.
