Guitar peeps

A friend who knows I know music peeps asked for a recommendation for an electric guitar for her 14 year old. She would literally be just starting.
I suggested an acoustic-electric but apparently the girl is set on an electric.
We didn’t talk about price specifically but I’m guessing she’d want to stay around 300 or maybe a bit higher.
Any recommendations?

The other main alternative would be an Epiphone Les Paul II - about the same price. Slightly shorter neck, which might help for smaller hands.
If you go a bit more expensive - around $450, you get more guitar, for example a PRS SE Standard 24.
Then there's the amp....
I think the Strat's a good choice

Great minds...I have a friend that runs a full-line music store. They handle Taylor, Yamaha and PRS. His go-to electric solid body for around $500 is the PRS. They've got a new color this year, a tobacco sunburst.

If they're willing to spend $450 or so, then I'd get a PRS. From my understanding the quality is really good for the money.
