Their purpose is a mystery in God's plan.

I was looking forward to them, but have seen none. Get my lawn aerated for free!

And just to put it in perspective for you, in summer of 87 when they were EVERYWHERE here, I was driving an MGB as my main ride. You dared not talk while driving.

What was the brood that hit in 79-80? We were shoveling our walks... This is the worst I’ve seen since then.

Here the carcasses were piled up along both sides of the freeway six inches deep.

Looking at these things, it occurs that one of the two of us are aliens on this planet... No way did humanity and Cicadas develop on the same planet...

In the early 1990s, we had a major brood here in the Chicago area. We had a party for the operating room staff at our home. Actually, it was more of a daytime picnic.

One of the surgeons was frying cicadas in our kitchen.

                        No, I didn’t partake.

If it's crispy it had better be a nut or a rice krispie or something like that.

An unexpected result of the little beasts is the birds have abandoned our feeders. We asked our resident expert who told us they are feasting on the cicadas.

It kind of pisses me off that they prefer the bugs to our offerings.
