Really? I mean, nothing against them, they were fun. But it took until now for Carol King, Todd Rundgren and Tina Turner to get in, all of whom were way, way more influential.
Here they are today. The Gram-Grams.

Really?
Dude.
C'mon you're from there.
N.W.A. was inducted before Yes, Dire Straits, Nina Simone, Radiohead, Depeche Mode, Whitney Houston, Carole King, and Tina Turner.
Public Enemy, The Dells, Laura Nyro, the Midnighters, Little Anthony and the Imperials, and the backing bands for Gene Vincent, Bill Haley and Hank Ballard made it in before Rush.
It's the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, man. This is precisely the shit that they do.

Whoa.
Whoa.
Ohio. You're from Ohio is what I meant. Nobody has to claim Cleveland that doesn't want to claim Cleveland.

They are, and fuck 'em both!
(The nice thing about being from such a small corner of nowhere is that it's so obscure, people can't even find it on a map, let alone know how to work up a proper dig! Shoulda gone with Crellin!)

All of which reminds me of a story, apropos to current events. Back in the late 70's, early 80's MFR lived in a four family in Columbus. Her best friends were a Jewish couple from Cleveland. The other two apartments were occupied by a couple Kuwaiti grad students (with slave for their kid) and a couple Syrians or somewhere over there. One day Vicki came in and one of the Arabs started in on her 'Your country ATTACKED mine!!!' to which she responded 'Who? Who did Cleveland attack?'

The Bangles aren't in the Hall and could kick their ass from here 'till Sunday. The Bangles live in 2020:
Link to videoBesides, Susanna Hoffs is the same age as I am, and if I wasn't an old married man, I'd happily do her standing up in a hammock...

Saw them open for The Police. At that time they had one or two hits but those hits were groundbreaking.

This video was done about two decades ago. The audio is very good and their voices were in their early 40's, which means about as good as it gets.
How many singers today, could lay this down without autotune and playing their own instruments?

Lastly (or maybe not)...Something you may or may not know... Eternal Flame is one of the band's biggest hits.
To increase the feeling of vulnerability, Hoffs laid down the vocal tracks while naked.
I guess it worked...
