The point of "free speech" is defending speech you don't like.

The actual story seems to be that the father is using this as in an attempt to gain custody of his child.

Maybe losing the stupid fucking rock would be a smart move.

The article said that the lawyer for the kid (I think they are supposed to be independent??) does not think it is a big deal.
