For years, Bill Gates has had a room at the very top of his mansion. A room that everybody is forbidden from entering. Melinda was initially mildly curious, but as time has gone on, she became more and more convinced that there was a terrible, dark secret hidden behind the heavy oak door leading to the room known only as L1. At night, she swore she could hear strange, unearthly sounds from behind it.
Finally, she could stand it no longer. Choosing a night when Bill was away on one of his "charitable" missions, she crept out of her room, taking with her the key that had been given to her in the early days of their marriage as a token of trust, and opened the door.
In the room was a single computer.
She switched it on.
And life as she knew it was changed for ever.
