As police across the country are leaving cities in droves and it becomes harder to recruit new officers, this could be a common occurence...

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9519669/Louisville-sees-murders-shootings-rocket-police-officer-numbers-slump.html

So, what does this do to local and national politics?

To what extent is this going on? Clearly, white people entering the police force these days are doing so with the understanding that they'll get figuratively spit on for being in their profession, so it must be going on to a meaningful extent.

    Education is extremely important.

The degradation of law enforcement as a profession. Swell.

        There should be a draft.

Everyone should serve a 2-year hitch in the police department.

Not a bad idea. A change in point of view would be helpful.

            @mik

I know a lot of retired cops and a couple who are still on active duty. I doubt that any one of them would want conscripts on the force. The job is difficult enough without having to babysit someone who would never have been hired on in the first place and who doesn't want to be there anyway.

I do not think it is a good idea at all.

Fuck that, like I already said the job is difficult enough as it is without having to babysit someone who shouldn't be there or another who has no business of being there.

                      The job is simple

Seen on Facebook, I didn't try to verify any of this:

                          Systemic Racism in Chicago

                          1. 2,240 Shootings, 440 Homicides from January thru July 2020. Almost every shooter and homicide were BLACK - 97.7%, but BLM and Chicago‘s Democratic Politicians blame “police and systemic racism.

                          2. The Chicago mayor is black.

                          3. The Superintendent of Police is black.

                          5. The Chief Judge of Cook County Circuit Courts is black.

6 The Illinois Attorney General is black.

                          1. The Chicago Fire Department Commissioner is black.

                          2. The Cook County Board President is black.

                          4. The Illinois Lieutenant Governor is black.

                          5. The Illinois Secretary of State is black.

                          6. The Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County is black.

                          7. The Cook County Clerk is black.

                          8. The Chicago Treasurer is black.

                          9. The Chicago Police Board President is black.

                          10. The Chicago Transit Authority President is black.

                          11. The CEO of Chicago Public Schools is black.

                          12. The Commissioner of the Department of Water Management is black.

                          13. 40% of the City Council belong to the Black Caucus.

Their average pay is $122,304 annually each, PLUS $122,000 per year in expenses. Their pension for life is 80% of last pay.

Republican head count in the City Council is ZERO.

William Hale Thompson was the last Republican Mayor of Chicago in 1931. For 89 years Democrats have controlled the Chicago Mayor’s Office. At the end of fiscal 2019 the Chicago deficit was $838,200,000!

Can someone please explain how white people in general are responsible for Chicago's horrendously dismal condition?

NYPD had a 75% increase in cops quitting the force or retiring, 2020 vs. 2019. Denver had a 61% increase. Chicago cops are retiring at twice the rate if the previous year. Portland had a record number of cops retire.
Seattle had the most cops leave in a decade.

Most of the cops leaving the force across the nation, tend to be retirements or early retirements. But they sre retiring in droves.
