Apple Ear Buds with Headphone Plug
-
Just noticed this morning that they’re back at the Apple Store online.
Not long after Apple eliminated the headphone jack from the iPhone, they also stopped selling those Apple ear buds with the headphone jack. But now the ear buds with headphone plug are back. I hope the headphone jack will also be brought back to the iPhone and the iPad Pro lines of products. -

I agree, but don't hold your breath.
Apple's (silly) quest for "thinness" has become an obsession. Would anyone not buy a phone because it's a millimeter thicker? Of course not.
This fanaticism has even found its way into the new iMac desktops (which are 11.5 mm thick). That ridiculous thinness precludes the placement of a headphone jack on the back of the computer, so they moved it to the left side.
Stupid.
Also, if there's any platform where thinness is irrelevant, it's probably a desktop computer.

I wouldn’t go that far ... there may come a day where you can affix a computer to the wall like you affix a band or movie poster to the wall. But for now, when your computer still has to be supported by some stand or pedestal on a desk, I ageee it’s still a worthwhile trade off to keep it think enough to accommodate a headphone jack.

My 12 is slightly thicker, I think it’s battery life obsession.

Why not just buy a “dongle” so that the headphones plug into the charging opening?
For me, I almost never use my headphones while I’m charging my phone. Maybe I am exception, but it is not a big deal to use the headphone dongle

@loki who wouldn’t accept a millimeter thicker phone for a few extra hours of battery?
Again, I would.
I wouldn't. Screw my phone, I'm glad when it dies. Means I'll be left alone for awhile.
Regarding a headphone jack, I don't care about that anymore, either. I have a pair of noise-cancelling headphones and earbuds and neither of them require a cable.

My main use for my iPhone is listening to radio comedy etc. when I'm out walking the dog, and I use wireless headphones.
I find wires to be a complete PITA.
