So racist police officers are going to show up at your door and question you about the racist things you've said?

      I was only joking

The mayor of NYC is threatening to send his police force to your house if you say something that might make someone feel sad.

Don't worry, Tucker Carlson is on this story.

Is there a link to the actual quote?

Not that I doubt De Blasio would do this but I’m curious what he actually said and in what context.

                  You were warned.

Not that I doubt De Blasio would do this but I’m curious what he actually said and in what context.

Third article is the one that was quoted, the other two are, basically, summaries.

De Blasio Argues Cops Should Confront New Yorkers Accused of Non-Criminal ‘Hurtful’ Conduct

New York mayor Bill de Blasio has suggested that the NYPD or another city agency could confront residents accused of hateful conduct towards Asian Americans, even if the conduct did not rise to the level of a criminal case.

De Blasio encouraged residents to report any racist conduct towards Asian Americans to the city, which would then investigate and respond to the complaint. The mayor spoke amid increasing concern over anti-Asian sentiment and hate crimes, with mayoral candidate Andrew Yang proclaiming he could “feel” hatred “on the streets of New York.”

Concerns were brought to a head by an Atlanta, Ga., shooting in which six Asian American women were killed. The shooter claimed to police that he was motivated by “sex addiction” and not anti-Asian animus.

“Even if something is not a criminal case, a perpetrator being confronted by the city, whether it’s NYPD or another agency, and being told that what they’ve done was very hurtful to another person—and could, if ever repeated, lead to criminal charges—that’s another important piece of the puzzle,” de Blasio said at a Thursday press conference.

When asked by Wall Street Journal reporter Katie Hogan how that process would work, de Blasio answered that the NYPD is already trained to deal with these types of incidents.

“The NYPD is a great example: one of the things officers are trained to do is to give warnings,” de Blasio said. “If someone has done something wrong, but not rising to a criminal level, it’s perfectly appropriate for an NYPD officer to talk to them to say, ‘that was not appropriate, and if you did that on a higher level, that would be a crime.’ I think that has an educating impact on people, I think that has a sobering impact that we need.”

                    https://reason.com/2021/03/18/bill-de-blasio-nypd-hate-crime-asian-warning-cops/

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio suggested that one way to combat anti-Asian hate would be for the New York Police Department to warn people not to be hateful.

"Even if something is not a criminal case, a perpetrator being confronted by the city, whether it's NYPD or another agency, and being told that what they've done was very hurtful to another person and could have ever repeated lead to criminal charges, that's another important piece of the puzzle," said de Blasio. "One of the things officers are trained to do is to give warnings. If someone has done something wrong, but not rising to a criminal level, it's perfectly appropriate for an NYPD officer to talk to them, to say that was not appropriate."

As de Blasio appeared to recognize, merely expressing hateful speech is not a crime. Hate speech is in fact protected by the First Amendment. For something to count as a hate crime, there must be underlying illegal behavior, such as assault or vandalism.

                    https://m.washingtontimes.com/news/2021/mar/18/bill-de-blasio-nypd-to-probe-hurtful-but-noncrimin/

“We need to know everything we can to find those who did it and bring them to justice. Because I’m a believer that we of course need the bigger efforts, the education, the outreach, but we also need consequences,” the mayor said, adding that police officers would be following up with individuals regardless of whether the alleged incident raised to the level of a crime.

“Even if something is not a criminal case, a perpetrator being confronted by the city, whether it’s NYPD or another agency, and being told that what they’ve done was very hurtful to another person and could, if ever repeated, lead to criminal charges — that’s another important piece of the puzzle. That’s why we need these reports,” he said.

“One of the things officers are trained to do is to give warnings,” he continued. “If someone has done something wrong, but not rising to a criminal level, it’s perfectly appropriate for an NYPD officer to talk to them to say, ‘That was not appropriate, and if you did that on a higher level, that would be a crime.’ And I think that has an educating impact on people. I think it has a sobering impact that we need.”

“I assure you, if an NYPD officer calls you or shows up at your door to ask about something you did, that makes people think twice, and we need that,” he added....“And anything that’s not criminal, still follow up on aggressively, so people feel the presence of law enforcement in the city watching them to make sure this does not happen again,” he said.

There wasn't one in the Soviet Union. Or rather, people were rounded up and many starved to death before they hit it. Anything's possible.

                              As Jon would say, "Jesus"

Read history and you see what could happen, and what has happened repeatedly in the 20th century.

Good point, Aqua. Really good point.

And as fast as possible, the idiots are changing the curriculum in public schools. Didn't they read history? Of course, just like the rest of us did in public or private education. So, how is it "they" want to go in a direction that could be so awful, where people have no choice because the government has mandated how and what will be acceptible?

As a school board member of 12 years in a large district, I should be able to answer my own question, but I can't.
I could not figure how the progressive changes demanded by the SJW could so easily be implemented without discussion. I saw the dramatic changes in curriculum and classroom issues taking place, but there was nothing I could do. Even asking an assistant superintendent in a public meeting, "please explain what Social Justice is, in how it will be implemented in our district, and will be undertood by everyone."

I asked similar questions for the final 4-5 years of being on the Board, as I saw the changes taking place without argument, or rather, arguing was not allowed. She could not answer, I became the target and was basically forced off the board.

And now, all 5 board members are far-left.

As Reagan would say (Jon's favorite pres), "Here we go again."
