Firstly, I don't really trust any of the comparitive graphs, since the ways of counting a death as being due to Covid has been reported as differing from one country to the next.

Once again, my comment about Bolsanoro has nothing to do with Trump. He's been denying the seriousness of Covid since day-1, making stupid sarcastic jokes about it, stopping others who are trying to take it seriously.

His attitudes to the Brazilian native peoples and the deforestation of the rainforests should also be enough to mark him out as a prime douchebag. Again, nothing to do with Trump. Unless you think there's an International Society of Douchebags where these guys secretly meet up.

For the most part though, since Brazil is located in Washington's sandbox, I believe that as far as the US policy makers are concerned, it is still about the Monroe Doctrine.

Or the Russians suffering paranoid delusions about America. Both sides have their own good reasons not to trust or feel particular fondness towards the other. At best, the two can only strive for a diplomatic and peaceful coexistence coupled with measured cooperation on a case by case basis.

Perhaps then it will be possible for Russia to agree to return Crimea to Ukraine the day after the USA gives Texas back to Mexico.
