I've heard of like five of them -- six, if you count William Blake, who I thought was known most for his poetry.

The only reason Frida scores so high in America is because (1) she's had a bit of a resurgence as of late and (2) no one here googles artists; it'd be like looking at the most-googled 17th century french dramatist. I think if I polled 50 people at random from my contacts list, 10 might know who she was. I also think it's due to our immigrant population; Karen ain't googlin' no Frida Kahlo.

        Please love yourself.

The results are probably not meaningful for countries that ban Google, e.g., China.

On the more general question of “most searched artist”, the answer from China also seem implausible as there are/were native Chinese artists who are household names and would most likely top the list had you use the data from Chinese search engines to come up with this sort of list.

Look at the countries where she is the most searched.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

              Frida Kahlo? Wtf?

I've barely ever heard her name.

@klaus She’s better known here probably. Wife of Diego Rivera and mistress of Trotsky. I’ve been to her house in Coyoacan. Nearby is the house where Trotsky was killed, which is now a museum. For that matter Diego Rivera’s place is right there too and also a museum.

A few years back they made a movie of her life. That probably sparked some googling.

Don't tell Renauda. He'll buy a work of hers and hang it on the wall just so he can throw knives at it.

We actually have two cheap prints by her in our kitchen. I bought them at an open market in San Antonio around sixteen years ago.

I like her work. It's simple and colourful.

                      Elbows up!

I wonder why the Eastern Europeans are so interested in Banksy.

                        I was only joking

You go to Google when the person is unknown

For example, there is no need to Google Norman Rockwell
