I’m in the central time zone trying to order an Uber for the pacific zone, two hours behind. First I try setting the pickup time as central time, so use the desired pacific time + two hours. But at the very end of the process, I see they’ve used PST without modifying the time, so the ride is scheduled two hours late. Fair enough. So I restart the process and try to dial up the clock time for the pickup which will be in PST. But the app won’t let me dial that in, because that clock time has already passed in the local time zone. So, the only way to use the app to schedule a ride from here for there is to do it at least two hours ahead of time. You would think they’d have these sorts of kinks worked out by now. I suppose there are workarounds.

They pretty much expect you to order from where you need it. THere's no calling ahead, you land and then order. At least that's how I've always done it.

      You were warned.

When the plane lands I look at the wait time and decide if I can make it to the spot in that window. If not I will get to the point where I think I can make it and order.

Of course wait time is not always accurate but I’ve never been burned by it.

Another fun thing I noticed is when I tried to schedule this ride in advance last night. For some reason it was very busy in California at the time so the price was triple normal. Uber automatically locks that price in, ostensibly as a favor to the user, even if the ride is scheduled far out, at a time that would otherwise have normal prices. Last night the ride to the airport cost 170 and this morning 55. So I couldn’t schedule it last night and due to this time zone issue had trouble scheduling it this morning. We ended up using Lyft.

Same driver, same car, different software platform.
