Tonight's supper consisted of dirty rice, buttered carrots and steamed cabbage.
The dirty rice was made from deer sausage I ground on the kitchen counter. The carrots were pulled out of my raised bed this afternoon. The cabbage was cut at the same time. And I dug the green onions that garnished the rice this afternoon, too.
The biggest taste difference was the carrots. Overwintered carrots are much sweeter.
If you don't have at least a small raised-bed garden, you don't know what you are missing...
