China went from Australia’s biggest wine export market to taking near zero wine from Australia since China imposed a 212% tariffs on Australian wine imports.
One theory says it’s because Australia called for investigation into SARS-CoV-2’s origin against China. The other theory says it’s the local Chinese wineries losing market share to Australian wineries and got the Chinese government to impose tariffs on Australian imports. I think the former is more likely on the account that imports other than wine are also hit by tariffs.
