My son said rolling blackouts in Austin. His power was off for six hours, on for two and he just lost it again at 1900. Along with his water. He has a fireplace in his house, but like most homes, it's mostly for looks and that's about all the wood he had...enough to look at for awhile. Bet he doesn't get caught with his pants down again.
Around here, SWEPCO and CLECO are threatening rolling blackouts, unless people conserve energy.
Big whoop. I haven't ran my central heat all day and I just checked the hall thermometer...70 degrees. It's about 18 outside. I'll just sit here and tend the fire if the power goes out, and maybe put a pot of soup on the stove.

Do heaters take more electricity than A/C? I thought A/C took a lot.
If they are the same, are there blackouts in the summer also when it is real hot?

Bumping for Rainman.
Hoping he and his family are alright. Maybe they had a big candlelit party to use up anything that might not stay frozen if the temps go up before the power returns.
