Haven't decided yet, but I'm sort of toying around with the idea of sending this next stimulus check back. I'm not sure I have a good enough understanding of whether sending all this money out amongst the people is better than not sending it out, so maybe sending my check back would do more harm than good. I was okay, sort of, with one check, but accepting another one just feels wrong.

    Thoughts?

Do something good with it...Just sending it back doesn't ultimately accomplish anything except making you feel a little better. Donate it to a scholarship fund... These kids are going to be the ones that have to pay it back anyway...

I'd be happy to send you a link to Luke's College GoFundMe!

Ha ha! It's not that I don't have a use for it. It's that I don't know if such a massive outpouring from the feds won't seriously bite us in the patootie down the road. Or will the stimulus actually stimulate the economy powerfully enough to make the outlay a good idea?

The only thing wrong with the economy is the virus. Until the virus is controlled and life can go back to normal, no amount of free money will fix it. Once the virus is controlled, no amount of free money is necessary as the economy will self-correct. And you are correct, the stimulus will do more harm. But you sending your check back won't change a single damn thing except buy you the ability to be condescending and self righteous. At the end of the day, it won't change anything, so you may as well do what good you can with the money.

Yeah, if I decide to keep it, it will be with this mindset.

No danger of self-righteousness, though. I'm way to flawed to rise to that level of braggadocio.

But even as the virus winds down (or not, even worse) people still are limited in how long they can survive until things get back to normal. (And does anyone know how long that will be?) They still have to eat; they still have to feed their babies. Utilities still have to be paid. I don't think it's going to be like a light switch.

Yeah . . . I'm not smart enough to go anywhere with the questions I have. So to hell with it.

Don't send it back. They'll just waste it.

We gave our last one to somebody who actually needed it.

                  I was only joking

Hey, I never got a check.
So, send me yours, and we'll be even.
Win-win we both will feel great.

                    hmmmm.
Why didn't I get a check? I wonder if there is someplace online at a government web site where I can see if someone maybe stole it before it got to me? Ax, help me here, bud. You know those government web sites off the top of your head. Somebody stole my check. I'd like to be able to look up my name and whether the check was cashed. Damn. That explains why I'm so broke.

                        ROFL! Y'all are a stitch. 😀

I slept on it and decided against sending it back. Phibes is right; the feds would just waste it. This plan wasn't my idea, but if that's the way they want to play it, I certainly can put the cash to use.

Besides, it might even be a good idea.

                        So thanks, everybody.

PS to Rainman. Cheer up! Now that you're officially a doctor, your fortunes are bound to change.
