I mentioned here before that I transfered to the bioinformatics team where I work. I was part of a flat team of seven or eight under him. I never had any issue with him and enjoyed working with him, but "his position was eliminated" and as of today he is no longer in the organization. The bioinformatics team was informed of this decision this morning. Now the team is split into three, all reporting to the guy who fired him, his immediate boss. There are two groups led by two of the existing team members. The other group is me. I guess this is technically a promotion in terms of heirarchy, but I can't help but feel unease. Thankfully, I'm rich anyway.

Steveโs had several of those in recent years (and one caused him to be unemployed for a year and me to get a job in the Costco bakery department so we could have healthcare). Luckily the scene in his current job is a good one. Hope things stay ok for you.

I'm rich anyway.
Watch out for Joe Biden.
Maybe I should be for gun rights just so I can have a gun so I can kill myself before I wait in line for bread, just to live so I can wait in line for bread, with all the other people waiting in line for bread.

Those people waiting in line for bread are alive.
And Joe Biden will leave them alone.

Ugh.
Do you get a sense of the stability of your situation?

Yes, it's fine. The business world has defined people like me, we are "individual contributors". The guy who fired my boss, in this morning's meeting, said that I was the guy who would be writing mission critical tools and algorithms. I proved that in 2020 with what I did in the COVID application. People way above him respect me.

The new structure of the BioInformatics team will include 2 groups, one focused on upstream algorithmic development and a second group focused on downstream data science development. The two teams will be led by <Guy A> and <Girl B> respectively.
Both <Girl B> and <Guy A> will report to <Whatever> and work on growing our analysis portfolio in the cloud as well as outside the cloud. <Horace> will report to me and continue to focus on mission-critical applications, tools, and algorithms.

It's good that you come to TNCR for a jolt of reality and sanity.

With Biden in office and his focus on global warming, anyone who knows Al Gorisms will do fine. Try the veal, I'll be here all week.
