Heating up some ham, my oven element started sparking like the video below. I bough this about the same time I signed up for the original TNCR, so I'm thinking it is not worth putting money into. While I'd love to have an induction range, the ones I would want are pretty pricey and we already have a gas hookup.

    Any suggestions?

I don't have a lot of suggestions on particular models - but one thing to consider is the maximum temperature of the oven.

Our gas oven goes up to 550 degrees. That's probably the single most important factor in making good homemade pizza for me. Something to consider.

And that looks like quite the show.

I love a gas range. Xenon makes a good point about max oven temp. Not sure what options are available for a home oven to go higher that 550.

Yeah, mine goes to 550 but I'd love to find one that goes 700-800. Not sure you can get that in a home oven.

Yes, that's what I've heard, but it's been several years since we redid our kitchen. Let me know what you find.

Can we redo your kitchen for you, too?

We have a cosmetic redo on the plans but its turn hasn't come up yet. New countertop, farmhouse sink, maybe new cabinet fronts, maybe new backsplash. Same floor, most likely same layout. There really isn't any way to improve the footprint in the space we have to work with. I's about 14x12.

All you probably need is a new coil. Cost you about $30.

Yeah, I know. But it's just postponing the inevitable. The range has a number of things I don't like about it. Glass top is broken, knobs turn way to easily making it easy to turn the gas on accidentally. Now this.
